The Andromeda Puzzle from Craighill is a modern take on the traditional six-piece burr puzzle. Made from six identical components, the pieces interlock to create a striking geometric form that sits somewhere between a sphere and a polyhedron.
Designed by George I. Bell, the puzzle is made from heat-treated aluminium, a high-precision manufacturing process also used for components in modern smartphones. Its anodized black finish and intricate, almost fractal-like geometry reveal new shapes and symmetries as you turn it in your hands.
The six pieces can be assembled and disassembled in ways that aren’t immediately obvious, making the Andromeda a satisfying challenge for anyone who enjoys puzzles, mechanical objects or beautifully engineered things. Once solved, it also works as a sculptural object for your desk or shelf.
